About

General Information

Smile at Port Perry Skating ClubThe Port Perry Skating Club is a non-profit organization approved by Skate Canada. It is administered by parent volunteers to serve the needs of the skaters, our children. It is expected that parents and older skaters volunteer some time or experience to the Club’s ventures. Please send us an email if you are interested in volunteering! Our club is as strong as its volunteers and is getting stronger all the time.

All programs are subject to minimum and maximum enrollments, and subject to cancellation or changes in requirements. You will be notified of any changes to program schedules. Certain programs are subject to age restrictions.

Cancellation of Ice Due to Test Days and Weather

Our programs will run during inclement weather unless the Township of Scugog closes the arena.  Please drive at your own discretion. We will do our best to notify families by email and on our social media as early as we can.

Annual General Meeting

The club’s Annual General Meeting is held in May each year. Please watch your email, our bulletin board, and our social media for the date, time, and location information. This meeting is your chance to hear from the club’s executive regarding the previous year’s season. Nominations will also be accepted from individuals to serve on the following year’s executive and to have input to the skating programs being offered.

Program Assistants

Program Assistants are StarSkaters who assist our club coaches during CanSkate and PreCanSkate programs. PAs provide coaching assistance to groups or to individual skaters, and also act as role models to our young skaters. Training is provided. Students can earn community service hours as PAs. If interested, please speak to the CanSkate Coordinator or an executive member.

Volunteer Opportunities

There will be a number of volunteer opportunities throughout the season where your participation is critical to the success of the club. Please watch the newsletter and bulletin boards throughout the season. We are counting on you!

Code of Conduct Policy

Any skater who displays inappropriate behaviour on or off the ice will be asked to leave the arena at the discretion of the Coach, PPSC Executive or arena staff. A skater who continues to display inappropriate behaviour will be permanently removed from the program without a refund for any remaining sessions.
